New World Aeternum is a multiplayer roleplay game developed and published by Amazon Games.
When you load into the game for the first time, you will be asked to select a class called Archetype.
For those uninformed, there are a total of 7 Archetypes available in New World Aeternum and each one gives a new character two weapons and three Trade Skills.
Choosing the right Archetype is important because it affects your overall gameplay as players often get confused about which archetype is best for their playstyle.
Keeping that in mind, we created a New World Aeternum tier list ranking all Archetypes available in the game.

New World Aeternum Tier List (2025)
In our tier list, we have ranked all Archetypes available in the New World Aeternum in 3 different tiers based on Trade Skills, Weapons, Damage, and Utility.
S-Tier
All Archetypes listed in this tier are the best and provide a good pair of weapons with strong stats and good Trade Skills.
Soldier
The first Archetype in the S-tier is the Soldier. This Archetype provides a good pair of weapons that have both Strength and Dexterity.
In this Archetype, you will get a shield along with two different weapons making it effective in both ranged and close combat.
In addition to this, Soldier provides the Berserk ability that provides a boost in damage, heals all the damage, increases the speed of your character, and grants life steal.
Additionally, you will get 3 Trade Skills – Weaponsmithing, Mining, and Smelting.
Ranger
The next Archetype in the S-tier is Ranger.
Like any other Archetypes available in the game, Ranger also provides two weapons including a Spear and a Bow.
The Spear is good for both close and range fights and deals huge damage. You can use this weapon to fight with a single enemy as well as a group of enemies.
The Bow is the best weapon for the players who like to maintain their distance from enemies.
You can use a Bow for a single target because it is not reliable for fighting multiple enemies at a time.
However, to hit a shot, you need to have good aim and timing.
In addition to this, you will get 3 Trade Skills Engineering, Logging, and Woodcutting.
A-Tier
All Archetypes ranked in the A-tier are good but they don’t have the best Trade Skills.
Destroyer
The Destroyer Archetype provides two powerful weapons Great Axe and War Hammer.
The Great Axe is the best choice for players who like to hit powerful hits.
Since the Great Axe provides a powerful hit, it is a good weapon to defeat a group of enemies.
The War Hammer also provides powerful hits that are suitable for fighting a group of enemies.
Since these two weapons have slow attack speeds, they are less ideal for solo play.
In addition to these weapons, you will get three different Trade Skills Armoring, Skinning, and Leatherworking.
Occultist
Like any other Archetype in the game, Occultist provides 2 weapons including Gauntlet and Fire Staff.
The Gauntlet is useful to stun the enemies on the battlefield but does not deal much damage.
On the other hand, Fire Staff deals higher damage from a distance but its lack of defense ability makes it less suitable for the solo player.
If you choose to get the Occultist Archetype then you will get the Jewelcrafting, Mining, and Stonecutting Trading Skills.
Musketeer
The Musketeer Archetype Rapier provides fast attacking speed and counterattacks making it the best weapon for hit-and-run tactics.
This weapon allows you to hit continuous stricks. However, due to its limited AOE options, it is useful for group fights.
The Musket allows you to deal damage from a distance but has a long reloading time making it less useful while fighting with multiple enemies.
In addition to these weapons, you will get Armoring, Harvesting, and Weaving Trade Skills.
Mystic
The next Archetype in A-tier is Mystic.
This Archetype provides two weapons including Life Staff and Void Gauntlet.
Life Staff provides the healing and supporting abilities that heal other players in your group.
On the other hand, Void Gauntlet provides the debuffs and utility.
However, in addition to these two weapons, Mystic provides Arcana, Harvesting, and Weaving Trade Skills.
B-Tier
All Archetypes ranked in this tier have the best weapons but their Trade Skills are not good.
Swordbearer
The Swordbearer Archetype features a good pair of weapons.
In this Archetype you will get Greatsword and Blunderbuss.
Here Greatsword is one of the best weapons available in the game as it allows you to deal significant damage while maintaining mobility.
Additionally, it has the best AOE ability that allows you to take down a group of enemies easily.
The Blunderbuss is also good as it deals damage in close range but it is not that effective in long-distance fights.
The Swordbearer Archetype provides Cooking, Fishing, and Leatherworking Trade Skills.
