Horizon Emulator Installation Setup Guide (December 2024)

An emulator is a program that allows your device to run applications that are only available on another operating system. 

For example, if you want to use an iOS application on your Android device, you need to download and install an iOS emulator first.

Similarly, an emulator called Horizon Emulator allows users to use Window software on Android devices.

How to Download and Install Horizon Emulator 

First, you need to download and install the Horizon Emulator. For that, you need to follow the steps written below:

  • Open your web browser and go to the Official Horizon Emulator GitHub page or simply click here.
  • This will redirect you to the GitHub page where you need to scroll down to the Assets section. 
  • There, tap on the Horizon Emulator APK.
  • This will open a new window where you can download the latest version of Horizon Emulator. 
  • Wait for the downloading process to be completed. 
  • Once the downloading is completed, tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 
  • That’s it. 

How to Setup Horizon Emulator? 

Once you successfully download and install the Horizon Emulator, the next thing you need to do is configure its settings. 

To properly set up the Horizon Emulator, use the following steps: 

  • Open the Horizon Emulator
  • Go to the Download tab at the bottom and select Update All

  • Then, select the Script version you want to download.
  • Once done, open Settings by selecting the Gear icon at the bottom. 
  • Under the settings tab, select “X11 Settings”.

  • Now, set the Screen Resolution mode — Custom and the Screen resolution: 960×540
  • Toggle on the “Stretch to fit display” option.

  • Next, open the Container tab and select “Create a new container”

  • Give the container a name you want and select Confirm

  • Once done, select the settings mentioned below:

  • Box64: 24.04.2024
  • DXVK driver: async-1.10.3
  • Turnip driver: v6.5, v8 or v9
  • Vkd3d driver: 2.13
  • D8vk driver: 1.0
  • Directx dlls: native
  • After that, click Done

  • Once everything is set, click on the Three Dots on the container profile and select Open

On the first boot, this will take some time so be patient and let the container load. 

For on-screen input, you can use the application called InputBridge

Download and install this app and open it to provide all required permissions. 

Next, click Import and select the file of your controls profile. 

After that, this application will open automatically when you launch the Container you just set up on Horizon Emulator.
